Now, Te Awhi Rito is a metaphor. What it means is generations, institutions, organisations, individuals there to support the growth of the rito, the young shoot, the children of Aotearoa New Zealand. So, that’s what I’m here to represent. Te Awhi Rito isn’t me, it’s a vast network of individuals, institutions and organisations there to help our tamariki and rangatahi engage with reading.
And parents too. You’re part of this, whether you like it or not. So, get your kids engaged. Do them the biggest favour of their life.
Kia ora.
