Passing the Te Awhi Rito mantle to Kate De Goldi
On 29 May, Alan Dingley passed the mantle of Te Awhi Rito to Kate de Goldi, who has begun her 2-year term as the third Te Awhi Rito.
Acknowledging Alan Dingley and welcoming Kate De Goldi
On 29 May, National Library Te Puna hosted a special Te Awhi Rito event for family, friends and Te Awhi Rito partners. The event acknowledged Alan Dingley as the second Te Awhi Rito Reading Ambassador. And we welcomed Kate de Goldi as our next Te Awhi Rito.
It was an opportunity to thank Alan and to share the impact he has had over the last 2 years. He has inspired nearly 20,000 young readers at schools and events around the country with his passion and knowledge for reading and his ability to connect young readers to books.
At the event, the mantle of Te Awhi Rito was passed from Alan to Kate with the gifting of the harakeke (flax). We look forward to everything that Kate will bring to the role as the third Te Awhi Rito Ambassador.
