Reading Ambassador term extended to 3 years

Kate De Goldi’s term as Te Awhi Rito Reading Ambassador for children and young people has been extended from 2 years to 3 years.
Thriving as a nation of readers
The increased term will allow Kate, appointed to the role in June 2025, to continue raising awareness of the importance of reading for pleasure. It will also enable her to consolidate her work to date and that of previous ambassadors Ben Brown and Alan Dingley.
The 3-year term will apply to future ambassadors. It also aligns with the extension of the Poet Laureate term announced in 2024. The current Poet Laureate is Robert Sullivan.
